Not too easy to answer. It depends on many factors.
One can have a race copter that is optimized for speed (huge open areas), and there also can be a copter that is optimized for narrow, tight racetracks.
Genarally speaking, you can not be wrong if buying the DYS 1806 (2300kv) motors and any Blheli (damped light + oneshot) capable 12A+ speed controller.
For higher speeds and more power, buy the well-proved Cobra motors (~2000kv) and any 20A Blheli capable speed controller.
Always count with the cell number you wish to use with those combos. Generally, when speaking about racing copters, we think about 4 cell LiPo batteries, never 3 cell ones.
